The S-60R seems to me to be a well thought out and well engineered car (accept for the wheel rub at full clock) I expect it to be very reliable ( I hope I'm rite)īut Hell, I'm not an automotive engineer.
I'm already surprised at how well the rev limiter works, I like it a lot more than the rev limiter interaction on the hondas, vw and audi's. Generally, these modern motors are so worked up with knock sensors etc, that at the slightest over boost or detonation the ECU will pull timing go into limp mode preventing full boost from being requested long before you can blow it up. not getting a leak in the piping or a recirculating valve issue, limp mode etc. In my opinion they're mostly good for showing that your making the requested boost. Not that a boost gauge isn't a good idea. I've modified a couple VW/audi 1.8T motors without a single issue, and without a boost gauge mind you. I would assume a good tune from IPD or RICA would be quite reliable, No? I assume the 2.5 turbo in the volvo is a time tested design. An a cheaper alternative when purchased used to the S4. However, the s-60 R is a relatively rare car in the states. Yep "cheap as chips" That's how I got the car. The car doesnt feel slower than before or slow at all, it just really bugs me knowing that I am miss. Ever since then, I see the car will only hold 10 psi under WOT. I bought it a few months ago and recently put a boost gauge in it.
I would say however that I still strongly commend the fitting of a boost gauge to my customers' R cars with MTE software as their knowledge and abilities do not extend to sprinkling fairy dust on those smaller components arround the engine that ultimately do control boost.ĭon, I have e-mailed you two times. Hi everyone, I am having an issue with my (manual m66) 04 s60r. IPD are a long established and well founded company who offer impeccable service.that costs you your $s but is worth it. There are various relatively cheap components arround the control of boost that can fail and the resulting high boost will cause the cylinder walls to burst, a very expensive failure to remedy on a now relatively cheap car.Īs the MTE distributor here in the UK I would commend your buying their product from IPD in Portland, Oregon. If you are constrained by your budget to buy at the cheaper end of the market then also buy and fit a fair quality boost gauge. Verwende die Pfeile nach oben und unten, wenn Ergebnisse zur automatischen Vervollständigung angezeigt werden, um sie dir anzusehen und sie auszuwählen. iPd boost gauge in Volvo S60R blue gauge style. However, that does not detract from the fact that their engines have weaknesses with their wide and closely spaced bores. iPd boost gauge in Volvo S60R blue gauge style. As is the case here in the UK I am sure that the S60R is now as 'cheap as chips', having depreciated greatly from new.
